Case Study: C-Suite Leadership Teams

Over a three-year period, Scott has coached a newly appointed Fortune 500 CEO and his senior leadership team to shape and execute a strategy for growth.

Through a methodical, yet organic process of offsites and structured follow-up, the team established norms, shaped and communicated strategy, identified key initiatives, developed a routine for engaging the extended leadership team, and launched a culture-shaping lean business practices initiative.

In another example, Scott has worked for three years with the Chief Technology Officer and senior leadership team of a global, private equity backed SaaS provider to evolve and scale up their leadership capacity to drive the growth and reach of the company. Starting with basic team formation and cohesion, the coaching work has supported the team’s growth through establishing regular operating rhythms, accountability structures, and organizational development. As leadership team members have increasingly focused on the work that only they can do, their teams have accelerated their cycle times on creating and delivering the products and services required to increase customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction.

It's typical for executives to reengage Scott as a coach and advisor as their careers and businesses grow. In one example, Scott coached a private-equity backed CFO, coached him again when he was recruited to be a Fortune 500 CFO, and then became his longer term coach as he took on the CEO role. The trust and candor built over time gave the client the confidential sounding board he needed to shape successful entry strategies in his new roles.

In another example, Scott coached the recently retired CEO of a NYSE-listed, 90,000 employee global consulting company through key career transitions from VP to SVP, from SVP to business unit president, and from business unit president to president of the business in the U.S. At each transition point, the perspective and long-term relationship that had been built provided the platform for a succesful move to the next level.
